Well, I managed to cycle from Monday to Thursday this week but had to give in and catch the bus on Friday as it had snowed overnight. I did still see a couple of cyclist out and I don’t know how they did it. There is no way I would risk skidding in the snow and ending up under a car!
DS1s parents’ evening took place on Thursday night. This is always a nervous time, as we usually end up hearing of problems in the form of talking, lack of concentration or not even trying in a subject he doesn’t like. This time I am pleased to say it was excellent. All his teachers were extremely pleased with his progress and have high hopes for his GCSEs in two years time if he continues the hard work.
He has to choose his options this year and luckily he knows exactly what he wants to study. The teachers of those subjects were also pleased he had chosen them and thought he would do well – apart from his PE teacher. DS1 had wanted to choose GCSE PE but he has recommended he do the BTEC instead. DS1 was not happy with this but is slowly coming round to the idea. At the end of the course, as long as he gets good grades, he will be able to change the same Colleges and the same courses whichever route he decided to take. So we are encouraging him to take the advice of his PE teacher.
It’s very cold here today and we have had a little snow but it didn’t settle. Because it was snowing when we went shopping, we decided to skip the Aldi trip this week and just went to Tesco and spent £45 plus £5.69 on meat from Sainsburys this week. So within budget which I’m pleased about.
We have sat and watched a film together this afternoon and are now sat listening to our local football team on the radio – it’s not good news though!!
Plans for next week – I will take February’s garden photo, I have a new soup recipe to try and I need to keep within the food budget again.
Bring it on.
